“For I will satisfy the weary soul, and every languishing soul I will replenish.”
Jeremiah 31:25Have you ever needed rest for your weary soul? Or just to be replenished? So many times when we think about resting, or taking some time for ourselves…in this busy world, for a lot of people that just looks like stopping the busyness. For some it looks like binge watching a Netflix series or spending all day in bed, while to others it means getting away from the every day like on a vacation.
You know, I have been battling some serious health situations with my heart lately due to my autoimmune diseases. During this time, I have been told by my doctors, by my friends and family how much I need to take care of myself and REST. I will admit, I have been weary – in my body and my soul – as I have been fighting this. But what I have learned the most is that an entire weekend in bed doesn’t come close to replenishing me the way a few hours away with the Lord does. This verse from Jeremiah talks about the promise from the Lord to satisfy and replenish our souls. There is something that the Lord can give us that no amount of sleep, or vacation, or even family time can give us – and it is because we are created to need it. It sustains us. HE sustains us. So as we are headed into fall with the new routines of school, and all that comes with that: fall sports, new bible study groups, work commitments, etc.; I encourage you to make sure to make time for the one that will satisfy your weary soul when you need it. Serving Him together,
